Welcome to Thief River Falls
Thanks to a generous $10 million donation by LHS
alumnus Ralph Engelstad and his wife Betty, Thief River Falls has
constructed a new $13 million arena, named the Ralph Engelstad
Arena—Thief River Falls. This arena is located next to the Huck
Olson Memorial Civic Center, and is connected to the HOMCC, creating
one of the premier hockey and civic complexes in the state of
Minnesota.
The HOMCC was constructed in 1971 and named in
memory of Huck Olson, a former sportswriter for the Thief River
Falls Times. The City of Thief River Falls owns and operates the
center. The HOMCC seats 3600 and has an 85' x 200' ice sheet.
The Old Arena was constructed in 1938. It served
as the hockey arena for 33 years until the Huck Olson Memorial Civic
Center was built. |
